I think someone on here made a parrot orbit/atom thing using poly rope to cover the perches. It looked really nice too.
I have been using poly rope to hold bird toys. When I ordered it, it said that it is bird safe but I would be sure your bird doesn't eat any of it. It is really durable, so it would be hard to get it to fray. The stuff I have is dishwasher safe too.
