Yep, I like Phoenix Landing a lot. They have over 300 birds in foster care currently, the vast majority of which are not on Petfinder (and I know some of the ones on Petfinder have actually already found permanent homes since the list was last updated). Like Mom's says, go to an event and meet some of the birds in person to see if you click with any of them.
