That may very well be from the melon.
As a rule, a good diet should consist of the following:
Fresh or frozen: mixed veggies, kale, collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, Swiss chard, broccoli, spinach, snow peas, peas, beans (reconstituted from dried), sweet potatoes, pumpkin, squash, carrots, beets, and most other veggies.
Serve LIMITED amounts of fruits such as apple, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, grapes, oranges, melons including seeds, peaches, plums, pears, apricots, nectarines, raspberries, etc. You may also offer dried fruits and veggies IF not sulphur has been used in the process. That's why raisins are not recommended.
You may also offer whole grain breads, birdie breads, salt free crackers, pasta, hard cheese such as cheddar, cooked chicken with bones, turkey w bones, beef, pork, fish and tofu.
Nuts such as almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pistachios, pecans, pinenuts, Brazil nuts and cashews should also be offered if they have no salt added.
I'm no fan of pellets, but some do offer them as well.
In general, feed 50% of the diet by way of veggies,10% fruit, 15% protein, and divide the rest with the seed/nut mix and starches such as breads and pasta.
When you offer eggs, also offer cooked eggshells. Its an excellent source of calcium as are the cooked bones.
You may have to offer the foods in many different combinations before this bird even understands they are food at all. Be patient. Its worth it in the end.
