Palomino coloring is a sorrel carrying a double dilute gene, while a bay is a black carrying a single dilute gene leaving the points, mane and tail black.
Our Palomino AQHA stallion bred to our bay AQHA mare produced a flaxen sorrel filly this year, which makes her double dilute as well (at first we thought she might be red dun, but now that her mane is getting longer, it's turning more blonde). You can check my "hoof kids" out at
