Hi everyone, I'm Anji. I'm a college student from upstate new york, I like art, literature, music, movies and video games, and I have one bird, a female pearl cockatiel, named Socrates.
My boyfriend Jordan and I got Socrates from Jordan's mother. His family bought Socrates on a whim a few years ago, and though she was kept well-fed and healthy, unfortunately the family was too busy to give her the amount of love and attention she needed. Well, Jordan and I visited regularly and really took a liking to Soc, so Jordan's mother said that we would could have her if we wanted, because she thought Socrates would be happier staying with us.
Socrates has been with us for about two years now. Since then she's much more social, calm and friendly than she was when we first got her, so I'd like to think she's happy with us.
If you're wondering why a girl bird was named Socrates, she was believed to be a male until she surprised everyone by laying a clutch of eggs. Jordan and I also decided she needed a last name, and we thought Birdenstein seemed fitting.
I hope by being here I can make a few new friends, learn more about birds, and even become a better caretaker for Soc.
