I have a Hahns Macaw and I am crazy about the little guy. Yes, he can be nippy. I'm starting to think it is an excitement thing and not a mean thing and it's not real hard biting where there is bruising or bleeding invovled. I just throw that out there because you will read that this is not atypical of the breed.

He does not like my African Grey and vice versa.

Dave is a very loyal bird. It's not that he won't go to other people, he just won't go to them if I am around. His happiest day in life would be spent with me all day until ten o'clock when he is ready for bed. He will do anything to be with me. I never feel unloved if with Dave around.

He is a good little talker but he's got that squeaky little Hahns voice (check YouTube to hear talking Hahns). Some days it is clearer than others. I liken it to living with a two year old where the parents know exactly what the child is saying but sometimes it's a little harder for other's to understand it.

I'll be interested to hear if you decide to get the Hahns. I can't say enough good about them. I am so lucky to have Dave but as Halo said, you won't find too many people out here telling you any bird is a bad choice.
