Oh my GOD I'm so happy to read this thread. Is it wrong for me to be happy that other people are bleeding from their crazed Caiques :) My little white bellie is my babe, but in the past 5 months or so he's handed me a good handful of those sudden, nasty sharp little Caique bites - AH! Those SUCK!
I was thinking it was some sort of 'I'm mad at you, spend more time with me' thing, but then he would go and bite even though we'd spent all sorts of time together. I'm learning to read those eyes and when I see the pinpoints and slow swaying I'll hang out next to his cage until he returns to my little peanut, then we play. They are a complex little ball of feathers, but I woudn't have it any other way.
On the subject of Greys and Caiques, we have one of each and they're completely aware of each other but they have never been less than 5 feet away from each other as we're sure there would be serious injury. Caiques want to play with everyone and thing - and I can just see him going to peck our Grey's feet and receiving what would most likely be a death blow in return.
We do have a very happy 2 bird/2 person home :)
