Less Friggin' Mad......"Pebbles" is HOME!!!
I went to Petco today to pick up the other keet and hoping I could bring Pebbles home. I walked to the back of the store, to their "Wellness" room and the door was open with two ladies working in there. They were different people than the one one yesterday. The light was on, as they were working in there. I had talked with one of the ladies several times during my many visits to the store. I explained what happened yesterday, with the lights, with the adoption, with "Pebbles" being on hold back in the Wellness room.
She seemed really sad that I was not the one taking "Pebbles" as I had been in so many times to visit him. She asked me to wait just a moment while she talked with her Asst. Manager, the Store Manager was still not in. She came back about 10 minutes later and said she had called the lady that had "Pebbles" on hold but had not received an answer.
While she was getting the adoption paperwork for the 4th keet, a call came over the intercom saying there was a call for her. She excused herself, and answered the call on one of the store phones. I wandered the store and picked up a few more things, of course that my birds really didn't need but I had to buy, lol.
When she finished with the call, she came up and asked me. "You are really going to take him home today? You are really serious, right?" All I could do was stare at her! The lady that had "Pebbles" on hold, was a going to buy Pebbles and re-home him. She just couldn't get the money together ($200) to buy him to re-sell him. UGH!!!!!
Well, since the Store Manger was not in, she went to the Asst. Manager and asked what she should charge me. The Asst. Manager came up to me... must have seen me freaking crying like an idiot and felt sorry for me cause he said "Can you do $150? I about kissed him! I was prepared to pay full price to take him home today.
So, despite the ignorance of the Store Manager, thank goodness the store has the wonderful gal that usually works with the birds and the Asst. Manager...
I took them all to the vets... will have to take Pebbles, see, no quotation marks now... that's his name, hehe.. to the vets next week as they did not have the time to sex him and probe him today.
I've attached some blurry camera phone shots of him below! Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! Isn't he just beautiful! He cuddled my neck all the way home... he looked up at the birds flying in the sky... or the clouds, lol.. and grrrrrrr'd all the way home....
Note: I am still calling their Corporate Office as well as local animal agencies. The Store Manager needs to open his eyes and become more aware. I will also be commending the sales lady and the Asst. Manager for their efforts and their compassion.
