They all think I'm their mate!
I figured out why my zons love me so much. . . . . I'm not sure why but it's my voice! Every single male amazon that I have ever met (granted that's only about 10 or so) has gone into zon overload when they first met me and it is always at the sound of my voice. I wasn't really sure if that's what it was or not but then last night I had both of my boys on my arms and I was talking to them. . . Hans was chattering away back at me and Peppers was pinning his eyes like normal and then something wierd happened. . . .
They BOTH started the amazon mating dance thing! It had nothing to do with eachother either, as soon as I stopped talking, they calmed down, but then I couldn't say a word for the next 20 minutes because it would start them up again!
I put them over on Hans cage and they were both way too intent on trying to get back to me too. Later on, Peppers was in the sunroom and I had Hans with me and we were talking when he started it up again! When he gets too excited, he wants to get to my head. I do not know him well enough yet to even think about allowing him that close to my face when he isn't worked up, it's definately not going to happen when he is in full blown mating mode!
So it seems I now have two zons that think I'm their mate. . . Poor Matt is still being left out of the amazon loving, and quite frankly I think he's just a bit jealous of my zon boyfriends,
Sydney and Sky are in full bloxn mating season now too it seems. I can hardly handle them at all because they just want to nest in my shirt. . . I think Boomer is the only bird in the house that doesn't want to mate with me right now and he's pretty young so he might just not have hit birdie puberty yet!
Is it like this for you guys right now too?
