Aren't yellow-sided conures a mutation of the green cheek conure?

IMO, you'd be safer with a pyrrhura conure than an aratinga in an apartment. That said, I have seen ads for GCCs needing new homes b/c of their GCC's loud calls...

Some species of aratinga conure are reportedly less loud/noisy/vocal than others. As an apartment dweller, I've had orange-fronted (aka Half-moon or Petz conure), peach-fronted and Dusky conures recommended to me but been advised to stay away from sun, Jenday, gold-capped and Nanday conures.

Have you thought about another poicephalous parrot? Maybe a red-bellied or a Meyer's?

In any case, I'm sorry about Kiki :(
