I cannot and could never duplicate my grandmother's latkes....so, I make my own version. Nearly set the house on fire last year when I dabbed off the excess oil using a paper towel ( as Booba, my grandmother, used to do) but the towel caught on fire near the stove so I had to douse the whole plate of latkes in the sink to stop the fire. Yup...nothing as disgusting as soggy latkes. I was quite upset for the rest of the night.
All that work!!! How did she ever do it??
