Birds do not like to poop in their cage. The reason for this is and why the morning dump is massive is because in the wild if they poop while on their roost predators will know they are there and eat them.

Try having a poop spot for them. I take mine to the play gym as soon as the cage is opened and had told them to poop. My greys now will actually poop on command since they learned what I wanted from them and provide a different spot then their roost aka cage.

I also have the floor under the cages and a couple feet around them covered with plastic floor runner to protect my carpeting. Hope this helps.
