Just a note on galvanized wire... it contains zinc which is toxic to birds. You can scrub the wire down with vinegar to try and remove the coating, however there's no guarantee you can scrub it clean. Once "clean" the wire is more likely to rust.
Many people use GAW (galvanized after welding) wire, however it still poses a danger. If you can afford it, you'd be best going with steel wire.
