Ok... call me crazy, but that worries me. Most plucking IS behavior-related. Pluck No More and the product I use on my CAG Mackie, AviCalm, are meant for behavior-related plucking. They are homeopathic remedies that WORK without having to medicate. A vet who would prescribe Haloperidol (isn't that a narcotic-type anti-depressant??) BEFORE trying other non-prescription methods concerns me, personally speaking. My avian vet, who has been in avian practice for 25 years, and also teaches at the University of Guelph (the University has a huge veterinary course line and large vet hospital & research centre) prescribes medication as a very last resort.

My Mackie has HUGE anxiety and behavioral disorders (read his blog for his history) and was a very bad plucker and also violent with biting, attacking, lunging and EXTREMELY profane language-tirades... I tried Pluck No More (I found it to be very expensive over the long-term) and I went to AviCalm. Mackie is now fully-feathered and 80% of his negative and bad behaviors have ceased completely or greatly diminished. ALL accomplished without doping him up. He is now (for the most part) a happy, settled, calm Congo who plays endlessly, chatters (nicely) endlessly, loves cuddles and scritches and kisses.

I REALLY don't want to start something up here, but why wouldn't you try these products, or others like it, BEFORE going the medication-route?
