Chilli Had To Be Put To Sleep/Need Help
I am so sad to tell you all that Chilli, my amazon that you all have helped me with in the past, had to be put to sleep yesterday.
It was very odd and I am heartbroken, but I don't understand what happened and maybe if I did, it would help.
She was fine the two days before and had not even been sick in awhile (she is prone to yeast). Yesterday when I uncovered her she was all puffed up and on the bottom on the cage. She had thrown up in her water several times as a while slime like milky substance was in it. I called the vet to rush her in and she threw up three more times after that. I took a sample to the vet and when we got in she said the sample of what she was throwing up showed a great deal of bacteria and was loaded with epitherial cells, more then she had ever seen. Chilli was very ill acting also. The vet said she felt she would need to put her in an incubator and give her oxegen even to examine her, as she was so bad off. I asked the vet if she felt I should think about letting her go and the vet said that "it might be something you need to start thinking about". She told me that we could try to bring her back but that she did not know if we could (given how ill she was acting) and that we would probably be at this same place in a few days. I did not want her to die alone in the incubator there and not know why I left her and the vet seemed to feel the material she vomited was full of bacteria and the epiltherial cells. I have not changed anything in her diet, I keep her cage clean and I had been even putting apple cider vinager in her water (just two drops) last week to kind of prevent yeast.
You all don't think the ACV would cause these issues do you? Does anyone have a clue. I miss her so much but the vet and I feel I made the right choice, given we did not have a good chance to bring her back given her overall physical condition she was presenting. It happened so fast. I just don't understand.
Thank you all for any input, if you have it. I appreciate it. I miss her so very much but did what I felt best for her.....
