I would really love to get fresh acai berries for my toucanets, they are descended from birds that came from Peru, but wild emerald toucanets range throughout various parts of South and central America, I strongly suspect acai is a normal part of their wild diet, and I know they feed on other types of palm fruit. I haven't been able to find any acai fruit anywhere, I have a feeling they would absolutely love the berries. I know it's highly perishable, so fresh ones may be out of the question here, but I would think freezing it would work like it does with other berries.
The closest thing they get now are blueberries, and they eat those like crazy, I've finally decided to start trying to grow some of my own, and hopefully that goes well.
I like acai juice myself.
