Cockatoo Feet?...Are they OKAY?
My mother has a three-year-old cockatoo that was a rescue. She has had him for a year. He was tested for the PBFD Virus DNA Test & was negative.
The problem with Murphy is this:
Picture the bottom of a bird’s foot, close to the nail is a fleshy pad. The pad looks as if it is sliding off to the side. Around the pad is pink colored flesh; it almost has a raw look to it (almost looks like a small eruption). He will let anyone touch his feet so pain is not a problem. We don't know if this is normal if not we will take him to the vet.
We decided to put aloe in his water since he does like to soak his feet. It seemed to be helping.
I would appreciate any advice or thoughts about this.
Also we have run out of aloe and purchased another variety but it contains Citric acid and Sodium Benzoate. Is this safe?
If you enlarge the pictures you can see the problem better.
