Most lovies, especially young ones, can think a toy or something else that's new can hurt them, so they stay away from it for a while. New food, new toys, new cage, etc. can bother them a lot, so you have to give them time to get settled and to check it out. One toy at a time, and leave it where they can avoid it, if they figure it will do them damage. This is just a normal thing and is part of their growing up. And be very happy that your bird likes you so much that he wants to be with you. As they get more mature, they will start feeling hormones surging and will look for a mate. Then they will be more aggressive and more interested in other birds. If you don't have any, then play the radio or stereo with easy listening music as companionship when you aren't there. Rock will make it much more noisy -- and it will get louder as time goes on anyway. Enjoy your bird!
