I agree, she could just be a nice breeder or the puppies could be purebreds but not intended (she has mom and dad but wasn't planning to have puppies). It's probably not as easy as it used to be to sell purebred pups for what they went for a couple of years ago. If I really cared about 'purebred' I'd see if she was registered with the AKC (or some similar organization) and if the puppies and parents had their registration papers. Purebred doesn't mean papered but non papered doesn't mean you won't be getting a nice pup.
I just let my 2 year old papered and registered working line german shepherd go to a great person who I know will work him in Schutzhund (protection, obedience and tracking) for 250$ and he cost me 2,200$ (not counting training

)because I couldn't find a trainer I liked out of all the people who wanted to give me 2k for him. AND I let her take him for a 2 week trial to make sure she and he got on well and she could handle him. She was going to pay me after that if she decided to keep him. He got a UTI and she's offered to pay for his meds (she's also a vet tech) and doesn't want to return him and is taking care of him in the interim so I've just eaten the 250 and will send along his paperwork next week if she decides to keep him on. Not everyone is out for cash especially if they love their babies I think.
