DNA sexing

Hi All!
I'm new to the forums and lovebirds as well! I'm getting my new lovebird in about two weeks once he/she has been weaned. I'm so excited! I've already got my cage and am starting to set up my lovies new 'area.'

There is one lovie I have my eye on in this clutch (there are four in total) but I would like to find out what the sex is before I bring her/him home. Should I DNA test with an online test? I've heard these are effective and inexpensive. Or should I go to my vet and ask them to do it for me, if that is even possible?

I've also heard that you should get your birds tested for certain viruses/diseases. Is this done in the same way as DNA sexing? Or can I just take my lovie to the vet and they can tell me everything I need to know? Thanks for the help!!
