Severes (in my opinion) have the personalities of grouchy old men...lol...or at least mine does. My severe is a DNA'd male of approx 30 - 50 yrs old. He loves me and no one else....I adore him! He will growl at me at times, but mostly I have a wonderful relationship with him.

Also be aware that the severe can kill your lovebird in about 2 seconds---so they shouldn't be allowed to be "up close and personal" with one another.

If you adopt a severe, make sure you are aware---an adopted bird (if from a bad past life) may take months to "warm up" if ever. If you are looking at giving a bird a great home, proper veterinary care, a good cage with plenty of toys---and won't be too upset if he doesn't warm up to be a cuddly bird...then I say go for it! Adopting is a VERY rewarding experience and I highly recommend it.
