the BABIES!
I have a friend who breeds blue quakers, and I have been toying with getting one as they are so beautiful. So my g/f surprised me the other day. 4, 3 week old baby quakers arrived at her store from my friend. They are so young that they have to be brought home at night to feed them. 1 of the babies is for me, the other three will finish being raised at the store and sold. So all this weekend they stayed with me and I got to hand feed them 5 times a day. They are SOOOOOO cute. The babies will have to go home with someone every night for the next few weeks, but my house hold has 3 hand feeders available. Me and my g/f can hand feed and our tenant who works with my g/f is also a hand feeder for the store. So hopefully I get to look after them every evening for the next few weeks. Once they are old enough to go the night without a hand feed mine will have to stay at the store until it's down to 2 hand feeds, when we will bring it home again. I'm soooo excited. I'll post pictures soon of them.
Since I quit my job at the pet store I have missed hand feeding baby birds so much. It's such a satisfying feeling looking after these totally helpless little creatures. I love day by day monitoring how much weight they've gained from the day before. And at the end of it all I get to keep one of these cute little blue bundles of fluff!
