S/he is just settling in, neither of mine chirp "all" day but they do have days when they flock call & chatter more.....

Do not give the fid any attention when they are being too loud for you---- even negative attention is a 'reward' for the bird.... at least the bird got to see you!

If your bird primarily does one constant "chirp, chirp" and very rarely makes other sounds then it might be a female.

You said the bird is a pearl... and when I asked about the sex of MY pearl tiel, I was told that pearls are more often female because it only takes 1 pearl parent to make a female pearl.... but BOTH parents have to be pearls to get a male pearl.

And at the first and second molts boys 'typically' lose most of the pearl markings & end up looking like a normal grey. (first molt around 4-6mo)
