I think it is great that you are preparing to have a bird by joining a bird forum, chosing supplies, and getting settled in your new home.
Next thing is to find and locate an Avian Vet in your area so you can get yearly check ups and have an emergency contact just in case you need it (we all do sometimes).
You might check with that vet to see if he has any birds for adoption or knows of someone.
Of course, you will have to post a picture of your bird once you get him/her.
