actually, from what i understand, most candles emit toxic fumes which are poisonous to our birds. the wax in most candles are toxic when burned. the wick often has lead or other heavy metals, which again emit toxins when burned. soot is produced with most candles. and, scented candles of course release highly toxic fumes. so, i've learned that the only safe options are unscented 100% beeswax candles with pure cotton wicks (that don't have any metal weights/cores).
