Hi Everyone
I took the chick to a bird specialist vet. I am so sorry I never went to him in the beginning.
After hearing what he had to say, I am disgusted at everything that the bird store told me and sold me.
Yes I should have left the parents to bring up the bird.
Wood shavings he was not happy about in the chicks container as he said that hes seen chicks die from eating a piece. So yes now paper towels lining the bottom of the tupper ware the chicks in. Using a smaller round tupper ware now.
Pet Store sold me wrong bird formula. They gave me formula for parrots.
I am also now using a oil heater in the room and will be getting a heating pad to put under the Chicks container.
This vet hates bird seed mixtures. He gave me some pellets that he recommended I get the birds used to eating, plus add in fresh foods (which I already do)
Unfortunately because I handled the bird the parents stopped feeding it. Bad mistake.
So now I am hand rearing the chick.
Chick is now liking the formula. Just had to find that perfect formula temperature.
I was told to only feed it once its crop is empty.
Thanks for all the comments and help provided even though I wasn't sure which advice to follow.
All I can say is for those people that are first timers to having chicks I think its a must to consult with a professional Bird Veterinarian or breeder before making any decisions.
