Some of the members don't agree with staying with beginner birds if you have a real passion for a certain bird. You'll just end up with it in the end. So if you have questions they'll be sure to answer them. I've been directed by more than one person to go to Bird Clubs & Rescues to learn even more about the different birds up close. Then maybe offering bird sitting.

The bird that brought back my interest in birds was the Bourkes Parakeet. Such a regal little bird. They're pretty quiet & although perhaps not as good pet material as a Budgie, very nice to have if you want a variety, as they're peaceful too. I think: Smaller birds are a little like terrier type dogs - busy & often nippy - but individuals & training can smooth that out. The larger macaws are more laid back from what their owners are saying - but hormones are the big issue with big birds.

Every week it seems I fall for another type - hope I'm not fickle.
My favs are: Caiques, Brown Heads [Emeralds] & the Poicephalus family, Linnies, Budgies, & Java Finches. I like the Caiques [kigh-eek] & the Linnies because they're like clowns & acrobats & like to climb a lot. Oh & I can't forget the Green Cheeks & the Quaker. Other birds I have little to no experience with. Lovies were on my list but I'm not too sure about the aggression stuff.....
