No, not a good idea. Although the space is large, your canaries would probably injure the owls. Owl finches are gentle Australian grass finches, and can be kept with similar birds such as zebras, gouldians, star finches, and diamond sparrows. They can also be kept with some of the gentle waxbills - such as cordon blues, strawberries, African (NOT Australian) fire finches, orange cheeks.

If you wish to maintain them in a cage, they are charming and entertaining little birds. Just make sure the cage is long (at least 30") rather than tall so they can have some flying room.
