Welcome to BirdBoard! I had an M2 adult male for years, and he was perfect in every way :-). My current U2 female, Gracie, is a true princess--beautiful, regal, intelligent, entertaining and tempermental! What Gracie wants, Gracie is bound to get, by hook or by crook. I'm the only one in the house not terrified to interact with her, although my spouse is getting better about it. I find her to be a delightful companion, even if I am allergic to her dust :-).

I've always found 'toos to be "high maintenence", but if you can meet their needs, they're the most wonderful birds out there, imho :-). If not, everybody will be miserable before too long. None of which is probably any surprise to you as a zookeeper with a specialty in parrots!

Experience: I've spent years working in animal shelters and as a vet tech. Gave it up, as I couldn't handle ever again putting one more needle in one more dog's leg and watching it breathe its last....

Nowadays, I'm a retired SpEd teacher.

Now, we have the animals you see listed in my sig, plus one old cat, a decades-old box turtle, and a couple of aquariums. All of them are mine except for Evil Eddy (spouse's), Jasmine (grown daughter's), and Rex (grown son's).
