i can attest to hearing people say that.
I was visiting Sampson one day while he was hospitalized. Our visits would last hours. The Vets would let me stay als long as I liked because it was a LONG drive to see him. I went everyday. After I would get him to eat, we would snuggle. (it was this time of year

) Sometimes he would fall asleep in my arms. I just wanted him to be comfortable.
The vets would give me an actual exam room to spend my time with him.
One day when he was sleeping, I could hear what was going on in the next room. A woman was there with her bird. What type, I dont know. But when the Dr suggested to run some tests, the woman asked the price, and started to scream..."are you kidding me, I aint spending that on this D*mn bird, let him die."
Now, I'm in the next room. I had spent over $6,000 already trying to prevent Sampson from dying. I started to cry. I put my head down on the exam table next to him. I couldnt believe how hard everyone was trying for Sam, and this woman just said to "let her bird die"
I wanted to kill her, but couldnt do anything but hold my boy tighter.
Its sad.....real sad....
