I feel so bad for Sophie. Poor thing. I scared the bejeepers right out of her tonight.
Being a naturally lazy man I figure I would try and see how Zoey and Sophie faired with out covers tonight. The room they sleep in is heated and kept warm for them (and the turtles too).
Almost three hours after they went to bed, while I was reading, I hear Sophie with her panic squawk. Zoey was quiet and Sophie stopped right away so I finished my paragraph then went to check on her and go ahead and put the cover on. I figured the turtles may have spooked her or something. Who knows. Zoey looked at me like "get me away from this nut case would ya?" Sophie was perched on the ring for her food bowl. That is odd. I go over and lightly rub her wing thru the bars speaking soft to her. Wanted to make sure she wasn't freaked out ya know? I open the cage and pet her lower neck and I think to myself "she doesn't usually let me pet her head she must really be..........."
Right on that thought her body spazes, she starts to fall, she mega squawks, her wings come out and she does one of her famous leaps right out the door past me to the floor.
Poor girl was still asleep!!! Or back to sleep anyway and I come along and woke her up and scared her!!
