Bird needs a name
I'm a long time reader of BirdBoard, but never post. I need help naming this bird.
Wild-caught CAG, left for dead in a *finch cage*...previous diet was all black oil sunflower seeds (based on the bag left in the house, and residue in his cage)
He had ONE perch, macaw sized. He had chewed/broken most of the bars on the back of his cage trying to escape. I purchased him(her) and his housemate, a TAG living in a parakeet cage, in September. The TAG went to live w/ someone else, but ended up back here. She has a name, but this poor bird has remained nameless. I was told he was male, but in the last few days I've finally been able to look at his tail. He has obvious silver tipping on his tail...So he is probably a female. We also took in a baby CAG recently, that was begging, and no-name, for the first time since being here, flew off her cage & tried to feed the baby CAG...
The bird is not handleable - yet. She is HUGE - I have not been able to weigh her, but she is larger than any of our other greys. I put our YNA next to her last night, and she appears larger than Pacino, who weighs almost 500 grams. She is a very dignified, majestic bird. She needs a strong, noble name. We actually called her Schmedley when we got her, and have tried Rocky, Calypso, Bullwinkle, Bullrock (she's stubborn!) Wingnut..countless names. None of them stuck. That was before I realized she is most likely female.
The name Grace, or any version of Grace, is out - that is my MIL's name, and since I am now her primary caretaker (as of Dec 16) I don't want a bird named after her....I spend enough time dealing w/ Gracie the person, I don't need to deal w/ that at home too :)
Any ideas? What does she look like to you??
Thanks...
Wendy
