hi im new here. i live in nsw australia. and have been given two galahs a male and female. i have recently seperated them cause the female was beating up the male and he seems happier out of the same cage. he was a rescued bird from the person i got them from and she was a wild caught. she will take food from your hand but you cannot touch her at all. he will not take food from you but loves his crest scratched. i have had them for about a month and a half now letting them settle in talking quietly to them and not forcing anything on them. had him out this weekend and he literally freaks when he touches skin. he will step up but the minute he touches your skin he goes nuts. even if he walks over to your arm all on his own. his wing was broken pretty bad when the previous owner had found him and i dont think it set correctly he has no flight feathers at all on his wings ( not sure if this was something the previous owner did or if the female has done it) so he cannot fly at all.was told he is about 3 years old and she was full grown when they got her about 2 years ago they have been together ever since till i got them. and yes they are male and female ( eye colours are different). just need some input as to how to tame them down. i have never seen a bird scream when he touches a human like this male does before. i have tried with a perch to get him to step up when he is out of the cage and it was like he had been tormented with a stick before. my husband has named him foghorn lol. and the female he wants to name pinky but that one im not sure about. we also have a lutino tiel named the beast lol.who thinks he is tough stuff till he lost the fight with his shadow on the curtain rod lol. hand raised him since he was 2 weeks old so he is a bit spoiled lol.
