Here's one of the better sites for basic info http://www.forpus.com/ But you said you found that stuff. :-)

My parrotlets are very inquisitive but don't seem to be that into toys. New places to explore especially with places to crawl into are their favorite. Once they've explored a toy they don't care to go back. The female is very active and the male more laid-back like yours. I don't think the difference is a species trait, more just the individual bird's personality.

Keep trying different fruits and vegetables. You will find some that your bird likes and others he won't touch. My birds' favorite is strawberry. They also really like broccoli – the broccoli is a food treat and a toy they can shred up and scatter all over the place (same with corn on the cob).

I use small ceramic crocks (sauce bowls work good) and leave the vegetable/fruit in their cage or where they can get to it for about an hour.
