I had a wood burning stove in my old home and for some time it was our only source of heat. We had a few trees cut down in our back yard, and used them over time. We whethered a bunch of nasty snow storms and lost all power for days at a time.
Yes, if you can imagine, it was my job to split the wood, stack it, hump it into the house and keep the stove lit round the clock.....
Thus a good reason to get rid of THAT husband!!!!
Just make sure the wood is NOT treated, you have proper ventilation and the chimney is clean and ready to go.
Watch for smoke, any hint of fumes, and keep the birds away from it.
We has less smoke from our woodburning stove, then the fireplace. *yep, had to use that more then once too for heat here in the woods of Jersey!*
