Clicker training definatly works without a doubt. I'm a personal testimony to that with my bird.
That video is a good study to look at rewards
-He recommends as a treat, you leave the room. He say's "withdrawing from his environment because he no longer wants you in it, because after all that's what he wants the most". I wouldn't use my leaving the room and my absence as a "Treat". Reason I question that is what does he do about other desired action? It's gonna be hard to click and leave the room while teaching Paco to stepup or do a trick. Also, leaving is not a good way to promote the bird into your flock or increase trust. Of course, I guess one could say that if the bird is leaving the room, he is TRUSTING you to leave the room. I dunno, All birds are different. Cleo did great clicker training with food treats.
He might later recommend that you change the reward to food or something else. Typically, clicker training starts with a target, not with absence. But, you know..whatever works best and is best for the bird.
If anyone has the whole video, I'd be curious to know if he changes the treats later.
Great video and post. THANKS for posting it here!
