The coolest thing just happened!
I was in the birdroom just before lights out and sitting on the floor putting something away on a lower shelf. I was very close to the Scarlet Chested cage and its a good size flight cage. The female was handraised but never really tame to me since I brought her home at all. She seems afraid of hands allot so since they were to be breeders I just left her be. Well tonight she came down to wher I was and was just inches in front of my face so i sat there and talked to her. She just came right up and kissed me! right on my nose!! Ok, so I opened the door, she came over (fully flighted) and proceeded to preen my nose and such. Wow, I got up and went to tell hubby to come and watch thru the door. She flew up and perched. I came back, sat on the floor and called to her again. She came down to the floor of the cage, came to me again and i slowley asked her to step up. She did and ran up my arm to my shoulder/face again. When I tried to stand up she flew and then was too afraid to step up on myhand so I opened the top door and encouraged her to fly home.
BUT IT WAS SO COOL to find her willing to come to me on her own after so many months of no contact. She seems to like the males company but has no interest in physical contact with him. I wonder if she will ever breed??
