i think as long as you, your son and your husband want to make this committment..it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks! lovebirds are sweet (at least mine is)

fyi..i only have one. if you do get more than one there's a good chance it will bond more with the other lovie than you. lovies are more of a "flighty" bird,what i mean is they don't sit still too long. where as some of the bit larger parrots will.

i would just suggest to read up before buying one. forums like these are great cause you can look at the different threads of different parrots and get a good idea what you're in for...good luck!
