Hello Bird Lovers!
Well, I certainly am glad to have found this place. My wife and I have two FIDS, one at home, and one on the way. Our current occupant is a young Quaker parrot named Hurley. We expect our second addition to arrive in about four months, since he/she's just an egg at the moment.
We are full of questions, and I'm sure that will only increase as we look into bringing our second addition home, so I'm delighted to have found someplace I can discuss things with other bird lovers and hear your experiences. I hope you can help us avoid common mistakes, and maybe even make some friends along the way.
A little about my bird experience, I worked in a bird shop for about six months, so I have been around birds quite a bit, I've had several breeding pairs of cocatiels, budgies, lovebirds, finches, and canaries, as well as many pet birds ranging from cocatiels to patagonian conures. Sadly, this was before I went away for school, and I was unable to keep any of my feathered friends. I learned a lot during that time, but sadly, was more interested in playing with my feathered friends than really studying and learning about them. Having to leave my birds was awful, so much so that I've avoided getting any more until now that my wife and I have bought a house and are more settled. I'm sure you'll be meeting her as well, once I send her the link.
Cheers,
Michael
