There definitely are a few responsible petcos or petsmarts out there. It just depends on the employees and if they are willing to go the extra few yards to ward of potentials buyers that dont know what the heck they are doing.
And up until recently, all I've owned were budgies and I've always wanted a macaw. I think I know enough about birds to know that, as much as I want one, I wouldn't be able to get one for a very long time. I'm still in college right now and it would just plain stupid for me to even try to afford one.
