cordon bleu breathes with mouth open

I recently acquired a lone cordon bleu finch as a rescue. He appears completely healthy, is active, and sings. However i have noticed he will breathe with his mouth open sometimes. His cage area is probably in the mid 70's, and is not exposed to high temps. Could this be caused by air sac mites?
