Thumbs up Pistachios as Treats

Hi All!
To properly nourish your pet bird, balanced amounts of nutrients must be consumed and absorbed into its body. Pistachio nuts are one of the most nutritious gifts of nature providing an excellent source of protein, carbohydrate, lipid, fiber, vitamins and minerals essential in supplementing your bird’s diet. Pistachios are a plant product so they don't contain cholesterol but contain monounsaturated fats (the good fats) that will reduce the percentage of ‘bad fats’ (saturated fats) in the blood stream. Birds need unsaturated fats to keep their skin and feathers healthy and in addition to providing energy, they act as carriers for fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K and assist in the conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A (a very important vitamin to birds, especially large parrots). Of course they must be fed in moderation and should only be offered as a treat.

This website - Polly Pajaro's Pistachio Treats offers the freshest, natural, highest quality California grown pistachio treat available free of salt, mycotoxins or pesticide residues. It is very difficult to find pistachios that are unsalted or raw. Lots of the nuts on the market are of lower quality and could have passed through the hands of many brokers, so it is unsure where they have originated from or if they have been properly stored.

If you are interested in a great treat for your bird please take the time to check the website out. They also sell shells for foraging and also support bird rescues too.
