My quilting partner

I got Bambi (the daddy of the baby I lost 2 weeks ago) Cockatiel when he had just opened his eyes 11 years ago. He was almost my constant companion all that time. He would come out to the studio, or where ever I was, and perch on my head (pretending he was a woodpecker) or land on my machine and pull the pins out of my pin cushion. I don't think there was anything in the house that was safe from him peckering...mail, shoes (especially shoe strings and flip flops) books......apparently he thought all the stuff that was brought into the house was made especially for him.
Yesterday, he stayed away from his new mate, Flower, all day. Drank a lot of water and insisted on sitting on the kitchen counter next to the sink. When we put them to bed last night, he stayed on the bottom of the cage with his head down. I had a feeling he may not see the sunrise again. I am going to miss the little pecker head!
