Physically punishing them would only tell them that their plans of physical violence was acceptable! It would tell them that you should physically punish someone who you think has done the wrong thing... that's exactly what they planned for that teacher. We need to lead by example. I agree whole heartedly with sugarbeth. You shouldn't use physical punishment on children OR birds and there are many parallels in raising each- positive reinforcement is the key. I watched my mother raise my now 8 year old sister who was basically never physically repremanded, even though she can be very hyper. Right now she is a very well behaved girl who does as she's told and lives to please others- just like my dogs and lorikeet who I raised by watching how my mum raised my baby sister.
