Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? The heat register has me worried too. Do you have a pic showing where it is located relative to the cage? Also, maybe there is something growing in your ducts.
Can you find out the brand of cage cleaner that you have? I know you said it's bird-safe, but I'm curious what it is.
