Think about it this way... it's easier to operate on a human or even an elephant as compared to a mouse... it's more difficult because you have to be extra careful with the smaller creatures because it's possible to crush or kill them by making cuts too deep or otherwise. Not only that but birds are far more sensitive to anesthesia than other animals because they rely on their lungs A LOT!

The only bird I know that has gone through surgery is Charlie... however, that was before I got him! He had a beak injury, and it was gruesome!
