In the years that I worked as an avian technician, I cannot count how many times I heard that line, and I cannot verbalize how depressed it has always made me feel. With those words, the person on the phone has told me volumes -- that she does not value this tiny life at all, that it is a disposable pet, as it were. She also told me that little bird wasn’t tame (at least to her), and wasn’t an important member of her family (at least to her). .

I can second that thought, being in the animal hospital, watching my bird slowly die, knowing I would give any amount to save him, to hear a woman in the next room refusing treatment on her bird because it was not worth it, and she didnt like the bird anyway.
I remember busting into tears, huggin my bird, wishing, that his outcome would have been half as promicing as that other birds was.
With that said, Liz Wilson is a wonderful woman and one that has been a mentor of mine for nearly 20 years.
