Our ducks weren't too messy..we only had 2 at a time (excluding the 10 ducklings) and it only took you about 10 mins to hose the poo's into the ground. The didn't scratch like chickens do (or scrub turkeys that vacate yard now..grr). Our's were free range in our yard (only suburban yard) so they had that all day and slept under a bushy low tree...you have to search them for ticks though (lots of ticks in australia). The first time they saw rain was the funniest thing! They stood in the middle of the yard and tilted their head to look straight up at the sky to see where it was coming from haha so cute! They would do that when they heard a plane too.
