Coco, Bailey & Kiwi VIDEO UPDATES

Bee & I went to The Bird Brain today, and got to see Coco, Bailey & Kiwi (the rescued Macaw, Tiel & Amazon) in person.....and I got VIDEO of them.

Here's Coco

Bailey

KIWI

[for those who are new here, and don't know the story here is a brief explanation of how these birds ended up at The Gabriel Foundation]

TGF was called to pick up three parrots from a woman who lost her husband recently. They were his birds and she wasn't able to take care of them

Standing (and living) on top of a rusted old cage was Coco, a Greenwing Macaw. His beak was very thick and so long that it curled around up into his throat, causing him to make a constant squeaking sound. What was left of his feathers were still encased in keratin sheaths, he wasn't able to preen them because of his beak deformity. One of her back facing toes was facing forward, broken and twisted. She looked like the living dead.

Below Coco, inside of the rusty, bottomless cage, was Kiwi, an Orange-winged Amazon, who appeared disheveled and scared. The floor was covered close to a foot high with their feces and other debris. Next to them in another old cage was a cockatiel whose name she couldn't remember. She finally came up with Bailey. Later when I read the intake form, I saw that there she called him Jefferson.

She told us she had not handled any of them since the death of her husband. All three had nails so long they were like corkscrews. They probably had not moved from the spot where they were standing now in over two years.

Here's Coco, when they first brought him in
