I agree 100% with Monica - an ekkies diet should not be based on pellets, but can be given. I have known some ekkies that do perfectly fine on pellets while others are sensitive to them.
I feed pellets, but in small amounts - not like my grey who gets all the pellets he wants. My ekkie gets mostly fruits, veggies, and cooked food with limited pellets.
This was how I did things when I had my male ekkie, but I havent had an ekkie in over 6 months - I have another ekkie coming home in a week and will do the same thing as before unless she shows me she has other needs. As for pellets I feed Roudybush.
